The ticking of the clock grew louder, but time itself didn’t budge.
She looked out the window and waited. The entire world was absent as she sat in her living room, alone and undisturbed. Her eyes were open, but so too were her ears. She was eager for a sign of life, and she was ready for anything: a honk, a knock, a bark, something–anything.
Where is everyone? Why is does the world stand so still today? She pondered but did nothing to show it. Her body was still, and so was the world. Nothing moved. She didn’t move. The clock ticked but didn’t move.
I guess I’ll wait, she decided. And so she did. And time did too.
